HTML4 definition of the 'class' attribute.
This meta data profile defines some 'class' attribute values (class names)
and their meanings as suggested by a
draft of "Hypertext Links in HTML".
All values are defined according to the semantics defined in the
hCollection specification
The hCollection is split into several groups of class names for the purpose of making it convenient for writers to select which elements they would like to use.
Basic
- collection
- A container for the rest of the class names in this XMDP profile. Typically used with block xhtml tags such as <div> or <table> or <ul>.
- title
- The name of the collection. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctitle
- description
- A container or containers for the colection description. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermsabstractTypically used with a <p> tag or <td> tag.
- format
- A simplified naming of cld:itemFormat. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#colclditemFormat
- location
- The physical location at which a collection can be found. If the collection does not have a physical presence, i.e. it is digital, then no location should be given. Use interface or homepage instead. This differs to cld:isLocatedAt by not accepting the location as a URI. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#colcldisLocatedAt. A class location is given to an element that contains the name (and preferably address and geospatial coordinates) of the location, encoded as a vCard. See http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard.
- interface
- A URI for an Human useable interface to the collection. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#colcldisAccessedVia
- homepage
- A URI to a human readable webpage about the collection. It may be the page with the hCollection microformat, or it may be another page that acts as a staring point for understanding or exploring the collection. analogous to the URI part of cld:isLocatedAt, see http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#colcldisLocatedAt
- contributor
- This labels a vcard for the person who is responsible for authoring the self-description. It is here to provide a form of authority for the hCollection record, and allowing a point of contact for erors/omissions/questions about the collecion.

- accumulation
- A date or range of dates when material in the collection was accumulated. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermscreated
- contents-date
- A class contents-date is applied to elements that contain information about the create date of the items in the collection. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#colclddateItemsCreated
- access-policy
- How access to the collection is organised. May include opening times and any restrictions. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermsaccessRights
- accrual-policy

- custodial-history
- Information relating to the custody of the collection. This may include the provenance of the collection. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermsprovenance
- super-collection
- Identifies a collection of which this collection is part of. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermsisPartOf
- sub-collection
- Identifies a collection which this collection has as a part. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldctermshasPart
- language
- Identifies the language coverage of the collection. See http://dublincore.org/groups/collections/collection-application-profile/#coldclanguage

Expert
- service
- Identifies a service that can be used by a machine to query and retrieve records
- authentication-method

The method of authentication for access to either the collection (used within access-policy) or the interface/service (used within interface/service). A title attribute may be used on appropriate HTML elements to denote on or off campus access.
